Playing with Birder Software

I saw this bird today in the parking lot at work. Quite a noisy fellow, but it is rare that a bird would stand around long enough for me to take a picture. So that's what I did.

In the evening, I stopped by CompUSA and noticed that they had the Ultimate Birder software free after rebate. So I bought that. Installed the first CD, which apparently has an interactive version of a Peterson Guide.

Well... the software crashed in the visual category guide. It's Windows software... whaddaya do? :) But after browsing through the various categories and types of birds, it appears that the bird is a plover and is pretty close to a semipalmated plover. The beak in my photo is not quite right but the single dark breastband is there.
