Writing novels and sushi

Saw a link to NaNoWriMo in the Where's George forums. That's the National Novel Writing Month website. During the month of November, everyone who participates will attempt to write a 50,000-word novel. Yes, that's 175 pages in 30 days!

Sounds like a lot of fun, actually. But I don't stand a chance.

I exported the last 3 months of my LJ and ran the files through a Unix-style word counting utility.

D:\cdtmp\livejournal>wc *.xml
    471 6095 41480 200207.xml
    629 9421 68386 200208.xml
    556 8227 60014 200209.xml
   1656 23743 169880 total

So in 3 months of LJ entries, I have written less than 24,000 words. That's not even halfway!

Went to a new sushi/hibachi restaurant this evening that's only about half a mile from home. What a surprise -- they make pretty good sushi! There's a lot of banal stuff in the supermarkets around here passing for sushi so it's refreshing to have something better for a change. Anyway, they didn't have a New York roll so I got the Boston and Philadelphia rolls, hoping those would average out. Using actual distances, that's more of a Connecticut roll. :) I'll most certainly go there again. Good restaurants are hard to find and I don't want any more of them to go out of business -- at least not before I've had my fill of the food. :)
