Dutchess County

Cloudy. 36°F. Went to Dutchess County, specifically the towns of Beacon, Wappingers Falls, and Fishkill, today. There was still snow on the ground but on my list were a bunch of geocaches that I figured would be unaffected by snow cover. Indeed that was the case. All of those turned out to be pretty easy.

Once I was done, I had a late lunch at Arby's in Wappingers Falls because I saw a 2 sandwiches for $4 special in their window as I was going down Route 9. After that, I went to the Goodwill thrift store across the road but only bought one book.

Returned home and there was a surprise waiting in the mail: A check for $139.54. It's a class action settlement. A little late for Christmas but nice nevertheless.

Dutchess County II

Cloudy. 36-45°F. I didn't mean for today to be a repeat of yesterday but there were a bunch of new geocache listings up by Fishkill and Wappingers Falls, so why not? Two things I noticed soon after I arrived to the area: A lot of snow had melted overnight and the roads and mall areas were significantly less crowded than yesterday.

There was still a lot of daylight after I was done with the Route 9 series. Also, by that time, the temperature had gone up to 43°F. So I thought I'd try a hike in the snowy woods. I went to the Stony Kill Farm Environmental Center and did two more geocaches along the Freedom Trail. Shot some video of my walk along the connector trail. I used the Flip Camcorder I got from Woot.com last week to do that.

After that, I had a late lunch at Arby's in Wappingers Falls. Once again, I got the 2 sandwiches for $4 deal that they posted in the restaurant window.
