fosterbass's tale of lunchtime geocaching so I decided to go for Triple Tree this evening. It is in the Ramapo Valley County Reservation. I think the "Valley" is a bit of a misnomer because it gets to be rather hilly further in. Triple Tree is near the MacMillan Reservoir and just off a pretty wide trail so it wasn't too hard.
After that, I went for Fluffy Pink Bunnies, about half a mile from there. The hardest part about this is there isn't a trail going up there. As I got close to the top of Matty Price Hill, it became a rocky bushwhack wading through knee-high bushes. Fortunately, I didn't encounter any snakes hiding in the rocks or bushes. I didn't see any fluffy pink bunnies either, which was a bit disappointing. The view wasn't bad though.
It was a long walk back and the woods were getting dark as the sun set. As I was walking, I noticed a deer just about 20 feet or so to my side so I stopped and took this picture. It came out rather dark so I had to lighten the image in Photoshop Elements and filter out the digital noise that became very evident after I did that. I like how the eyes are glowing from the flash although that may have annoyed the deer slightly.
Nice day to do this. Round-trip walking distance was a bit over 3 miles.
