Lots of rain today. Lots and lots of rain. I went to Park Ridge in the afternoon to check my P.O. box and run some errands. Now, this is why I shouldn't go to town. I picked up another gadget, a pocket Wi-Fi Finder. Surprisingly, it was on sale too. About 1/3 off the shelf price. So I had it on while driving around, but there doesn't seem to be much by way of open wireless networks in this area. I did find one. However, I already knew about it so even though that proves the device works, it's not an interesting result. I should bring the Wi-Fi Finder into the parking lots of some of the area hotels and corporate campuses. It could be that most wireless signals are too weak to detect from the road.
Chigger bites have been a problem all summer long this year. Goodness knows I've had dozens of those already. Anyway, there was a discussion on a regional geocaching mailing list about chiggers and according to someone on that mailing list, he knows of a male hunter who swears by wearing pantyhose to prevent chigger bites. Not that it's a bad suggestion but I can see what's going to end up happening. We're all going to go into the backwoods in bodystockings for complete protection and people everywhere will fall over laughing while we get the geocaches. Hmm... maybe that will prevent tick bites too.
