Birthday Rambling (and Gambling?)
It rained all morning, heavily at times. I did actually wake up shortly before 8am but it was rather stormy outside so I went back to sleep. Then I woke up for real and microwaved a breakfast sandwich. That was so good that I put a second one in the microwave.
Then the rain seemed to let up so I went out to Central Jersey and did the first three caches in the list below. All really easy ones but given the uncooperative weather, I didn't want to be too deep into the woods anyway. Then the rain started up again so I headed over to Millburn to have Mongolian BBQ. (Well, no reason to stop that mini-tradition. :) )
Then the rain seemed to stop again so I did the last of the four. Skeeter Swamp is in an area that epitomizes New Jersey's worst stereotypes. That location is both industrial and swampy! It wasn't that bad this evening though. The weather was cold enough that the mosquitoes were dormant. The trail wasn't as waterlogged as I thought it would be either. In fact, it was merely damp from the rain.
Also bought several kinds of lotto just for fun. :)
Bone Yard (New Jersey)
Roosevelt Park in Edison. This park is just behind the Menlo Park Mall!
Patrick's Pounce (New Jersey)
Roosevelt Park in Edison. Same parking area as the previous cache. It's just the walk that's in a different direction.
Quick Stop I (New Jersey)
Garden State Parkway Northbound Rest Stop in Colonia. I remember another cache here that must have gone missing so it's good that someone has put in a replacement.
Skeeter Swamp (New Jersey)
Industrial and swampy area in Metuchen. It seems to be an open space area with a few trails through the swamp but there is no sign identifying the park or land manager.
