Tango on Two Bridges

The cache du jour is When the coast is clear in Lincoln Park. It doesn't look like a proper park. More like a swampy undeveloped area in the flood plain of the Passaic River. As I entered the woods, I was expecting the worst, based on what the other geocachers have written about the thorns, mud, water and mosquitoes. So I was surprised to not encounter very much of the problems described. There was some Multiflora rose overgrown over the unofficial trail but I brought hedge clippers and trimmed those back a bit so that I could proceed without getting tangled up. The ground was generally not very muddy, probably because it has been 6 days since the last rainfall. So it was a surprisingly quick in and out for this cache.

It's currently the Moon Cake Festival. I remember to watch out for this only because it usually takes place at around my birthday, give or take a few weeks. (This year, my birthday fell on the second day of the 2-week festival so it's right on target.) So I was at the Chinese supermarket this evening and picked up a box of moon cakes that wasn't too overpriced. May get another box later, after the festival when those get discounted.

Received a piece of political junk mail today. Apparently, Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan is running for Governor of New Jersey next year. So it seems last year's successful gas tax hike protest was indeed a sign of bigger things to come. I actually do support his platform of smaller state government, although I'm not too familiar with his track record as Mayor of Bogota.
