It's currently the Moon Cake Festival. I remember to watch out for this only because it usually takes place at around my birthday, give or take a few weeks. (This year, my birthday fell on the second day of the 2-week festival so it's right on target.) So I was at the Chinese supermarket this evening and picked up a box of moon cakes that wasn't too overpriced. May get another box later, after the festival when those get discounted.
Received a piece of political junk mail today. Apparently, Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan is running for Governor of New Jersey next year. So it seems last year's successful gas tax hike protest was indeed a sign of bigger things to come. I actually do support his platform of smaller state government, although I'm not too familiar with his track record as Mayor of Bogota.
