North Jersey

Was in another of those don't-want-to-drive-far moods again so I went around Morris County, finishing up some caches that I'd previously skipped because they are time-consuming multi-caches or pesky microcaches in the woods or both. I've never understood why someone would want to place a tiny cache in the woods where a regular-sized one could easily be hidden other than maybe to be mean. However, I must have been pretty lucky today because none of them took very long to find.

Had to use one of the portable toilets in Tourne Park this morning. Let's just say that if you have a problem with regularity, a 2-mile walk can fix that. :) Seeing the condition of the porta-potty though, I probably should've just dug a hole and gone in the woods. Why do people have to pee on the seat? Just because it's a porta-potty, it doesn't mean that the normal rules don't apply.

Thunder Road (New Jersey)
The Tourne in Boonton. This one's actually rather clever.

Ground Zero (New Jersey)
The Tourne in Boonton.

Rock Structures (New Jersey)
Multi-stage cache in Boonton/Rockaway. First stop was at a private residence where llamas and weird rock structures abound to get a piece of information. This place has been featured in Weird NJ before. And then the next two stages were near the Split Rock Reservoir.

Pineys Might Be Lurking (New Jersey)
Jonathan's Woods in Rockaway. An interesting pine woods area. Certainly different from the usual deciduous forest.

Mecca's Dam (It) (New Jersey)
Oak Ridge Lake in Oak Ridge. The only hard parts were the walk across the overflowing dam (not so bad) and the final climb up the steep hill. (now that is steep!) Some ruins in the area. Too much ATV and dirt bike activity. Had to step aside for them a few times.

TRL Highlands Hike (New Jersey)
Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Oak Ridge. Near the Highlands Trail. Someone called to me from on top of the rocks. I couldn't hear him well enough so I didn't know who he was or what he was trying to say. Later, I found out that he's Dobsonian.

David's Rock Collection Cache (New Jersey)
Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Oak Ridge. Located near some very large rocks.

Broken back in the woods! (New Jersey)
Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Oak Ridge. I didn't break my back retrieving this cache. Thank goodness.
