Long Island

Not a bad day today, although it got cloudy and windy towards the end of the day. Got the first cache and then met up with gushi and we went to the rest of the caches together. gushi also bought the pizza, soda and garlic nuts, which were much appreciated.

There were two caches that we could not find. One was frustrating because it's supposed to be easy and very close to the trail. However, I noticed when I got home that someone else logged a DNF on it too. The other was reported by those who found it to be 200 feet from the coordinates. Someone provided "corrected coordinates", which were 0.2 miles away! When I got back, I saw that the cache had been archived. Oh well. On the plus side, the rest of the caches were quick and easy, although the hiding techniques for some of them were crazy. (Wish I could describe those caches but then it'll spoil the hunt for everyone else, so I can't.)

The Sure Thing (New York)
Harrison Williams Woods in Bayville. Even for a cache with a name like "Sure Thing", I took the wrong trail! No problem finding it though.

RPA-47 Commack Road Park (New York)
Commack Road Park in Islip. Ran into T.E.M., another geocacher, there.

PlayTime (New York)
Small playground area in Centereach.

Sunset Harbor - H26 (New York)
Sunset Harbor on Mud Creek in Patchogue.

That's Just Not Right - H25 (New York)
County Parklands in Yaphank.
