Day 4: The Rainy Day

Flooded parking lot at Unami Park in Cranford. Flooded parking lot at Unami Park in Cranford.

Spent the morning at home getting some work done because it was raining very heavily outside. After lunch, the rain seemed to slow down somewhat so I went for "No Name Cache !!" (New Jersey) in Rifle Camp Park in West Paterson. The rain stopped by the time I got there but there was water runoff on many of the trails and paved paths. Nevertheless, both stages of this cache were very easy ones on familiar trails.

After that, I went to Bear Cubs 119 (New Jersey) in Saddle River County Park in Rochelle Park. I didn't want to walk that far so I drove around and found a parking area that was much closer to the cache than I thought. Unfortunately, even that short distance was very waterlogged from the rain.

The third one of the day was THE BAD CONNECTION (New Jersey) at Unami Park in Cranford. Going South on the Garden State Parkway was rather ill-advised because traffic was seriously backed up due to a flooding problem in the Newark area. I took to the local streets in Bloomfield, East Orange, and Newark in order to detour around the flood.
