Belkin Wireless Print Server

Rainy day today but I decided to go and see if I can use the OfficeMax gift card for something. The store in Nanuet did have the Belkin wireless print server and it was on sale so I got one of that. Brought it home and ran it through the setup process, which was especially complicated since my wireless network has WEP enabled so I had to temporarily connect the wireless print server to the router with an Ethernet cable. Finally, I got through to the end of the setup and tried to print a test page. Nothing happened. I reconnected the printer to the desktop computer to verify that the printer still worked. It did. Connected it back to the wireless print server and it still wouldn't print.

Checked with Belkin tech support and it appears that my printer is apparently not one of those in the compatibility list. Darn. I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow to return the wireless print server.

I guess I should have checked compatibility beforehand. And I would, had I known that the list was so specific and had my printer was anything other than a bog-standard USB printer. (It's a HP Laserjet 1000.) As it is, the compatibility list is short enough that perhaps Belkin should have it printed on the product packaging itself.

The other disappointment was that the Quizno's in Hillsdale no longer provides free soda refills. However, the manager only put up the handwritten notice after I had gotten the refill, so I didn't have to pay anything extra. Nevertheless, I'm not going there again.
