Mysterious sign at the Ramapo County Reservation |
The temperature was about 27°F and snow was imminent. So what better time is there to hike up a mountain? Funny thing is the initial section of the trail at the Ramapo County Reservation was very busy. I saw 20-30 people walking past Scarlet Oak Pond. I guess everyone was out there working off Christmas dinner. :)
The first two geocaches were on the first mountain off the Silver and Blue Trails. One of the caches was about halfway up and the other was at the viewpoint on top.
Then I went over to Sterling Forest for a quick cache amidst a bunch of stone ruins. By then, the snow had started falling. The snow was in the form of tiny snowballs, similar to Dippin' Dots (ice cream of the future), although not as colorful.
You may have heard about the powerful earthquake and tsunami hitting parts of Asia today. Well, I called my folks again this evening and they're doing okay. It helped that they were at an altitude of greater than 40 feet.
