Another "coupon" that I got in Sunday's paper (from South Jersey) was a brown paper bag . It's a bag that I can take to OfficeMax, and I get a 15% discount off anything I put into the bag until the bag is full. So I did that this evening. Since my laser printer is on the verge of running out of toner, I picked up a toner cartridge. That did fit into the bag with room to spare. So I figured I'd get some paper too. One ream of paper went in. Then another. And another. And then the bag was full. Not bad at all. Anyway, these coupons are fun. Maybe I should check out those non-local newspapers more often. Doodled up this icon for randomfox's journal using Adobe Illustrator CS: I started with a sketch on paper. Then I scanned it in and placed it into an Illustrator document. After setting the image transparency to a low level, I used the pencil tool to trace over the lines. After that, it was just a matter of setting the fills and tweaking the strokes on all the shapes. Being that it's the first thing I've ever done with Illustrator, I made quite a number of mistakes along the way. Fortunately, once I saw what went wrong (some things are hard to see until you add a solid fill), it was easy to make corrections with the pencil tool.
