Fall of the Wappingers

Very simple itinerary for today. First stop was at the Last Frontier geocache in Wappingers Falls. It's near the Wappinger Greenway Trail, but I didn't walk the whole trail from town because I found a much closer place to park and access the wooded area from a residential area nearby.

Then I went to St. Mary's Parish Fair just up the street for the mascot gig. grizz593 and I were the only fursuiters for today. Also there to lend a hand and photograph the event were Chuck (Grizz's Dad) and palladinthug. The fair is a little carnival with carnival games (I saw a plush husky very similar to mine offered as a prize at one of the carny games. So now I know where it came from.), rides, food, and some demonstrations. (martial arts, police fingerprinting, etc) Interaction with the younger kids was great. A little later in the evening, the older kids came along and they were a bit unruly, so we called it a night. We'll have more helpers and suiters tomorrow (uhh... I mean later today) anyway.

When I got home, I finally got a chance to try the Gyration mouse. It had been recharging all day and was ready for use. Waving the mouse in the air to move the cursor is pretty cool and it works better than I thought it would because a small flick of the wrist is all you need to send the cursor across the screen. Obviously though, it will take a bit of practice to position the cursor on some of the smaller areas on the screen. Now all I need is a way to project the screen image onto the ceiling. Then I will be able to use the computer while lying down in bed, the ultimate in laziness.
