Still using the spare tire so I thought it would be prudent to avoid going beyond a reasonable towing distance. So I did some of the nearby caches involving longer hikes that I've been meaning to do but never got around to doing.
Tadpole's Little Stash is in Dater Mountain County Park. I heard that there was a shorter way in, but I took the long way from Harriman State Park. After that, I went to the Harriman S.P. Visitors Center, which is the usual place to park for Pete's Pick. Unfortunately, the Visitors Center parking lot was full. The alternate parking area was full too. Even illegal parking was full! So I went back to Johnsontown Circle, where I parked for the first cache, and from there, I took the Kakiat Trail over the ridge to Stony Brook to get to "Pete's Pick". This is the harder way to get there but I don't think it added much to the distance.
After that, I still had time and energy, so I went over to Peekskill for Fireman's Park, which was a quick cache. There was still enough daylight, so I continued onwards to Depew Park in Peekskill for Bring in De Pew! and New York Jets.
In total, I walked an estimated 8 miles. Ended the day with some shopping at Palisades Center (I got a 35-gallon Rubbermaid tub at Target since those are on sale this week. Then I carried it all over the mall and people thought I was a mall maintenance worker for some reason.) and lettuce wraps at Chili's inside the mall.
