Near the bocce court

I got two Postcrossing postcards today! (One from Finland and one from Belgium) I didn't expect a 2-card day so soon but it's probably a result of yesterday being a holiday with no mail delivery. So this brings the total up to 5 cards received. I must say that all the cards I've gotten so far are pretty nice. I scanned this card from Finland because it has a picture of bears:

Been busy so I haven't had time to write. Did lots of software updates (mostly programming and scripting stuff) on both the desktop and notebook computers. However, I probably shouldn't have run Windows Update on Patch Tuesday though, since this is the time when it would be the slowest.

On the plus side, I needed to use a Perl/Tk script that I wrote back in 1999 and I was pleasantly surprised to see that, even after 7 years' worth of ActivePerl updates, it runs without modification! Of course, from what I hear, Perl 6 may break the code but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Looks like another cleanup is needed. I found that I still have all the maintenance records for the previous car sitting in my filing system heap of paper. Unless I'm suddenly going to get that car back and have to get rid of it all over again, I don't think it's necessary to keep all of that. Especially not after a year has passed.
