Ponds and lakes were frozen but only on the surface, i.e. don't expect the ice to support anyone's weight. While I was at "RSS - Tiny", I noticed two people doing something interesting. They were skimming stones across the ice of the pond. The stones made a strange sound, much like the chirping of birds, as they glided across the ice. Rather bizarre. They also tried skimming tree branches across the ice and those produced the same sound.
The last cache, "Fortune Cookie", was actually in Chinatown in Flushing. So it was the perfect excuse to have dinner in Chinatown on my way home. After taking a short walk to find the cache, I went to Pho 32 Shabu on Roosevelt Avenue. There was no wait for this place but their shabu-shabu isn't as good as Minni's Shabu-Shabu II. On my way back to the parking lot, I saw a few more interesting restaurants, including one with a window full of tempura. That reminded me of those fritter places back in Washington Heights. I think I've got to try the house of tempura next time.
