I actually woke up at the usual time this morning. Then I remembered that I'm on leave, so I went back to sleep, and woke up again just a few minutes before 11am. Much better!
I set out to do a geocache in the early afternoon but it was not to be, so I went to the next item on my agenda, which was to get a set of passport photos at the AAA North Jersey office in Oradell. I didn't know until recently that AAA Plus members were entitled to one set of passport photos a year. I won't need those photos until next year, but I thought it would be a good idea to get them done in December so that I'll have another free set of photos next year.
Then I went for an eye exam at the Paramus Park Mall. Too bad my eyes didn't study. :) Seriously, it's a horrible experience, especially that air-puff glaucoma test. But now that I have a prescription, I can shop for eyeglasses online.
Read a tip about putting tape over the camera flash to reduce flash glare. My camera has the problem that its flash is too bright for low-light macro photography, so I tried it. I think it does improve the pictures a little although I needed more than 5 layers of tape to see any difference at all.
One more thing, although it doesn't fit the optical theme: I just received my grade for this quarter. I got an "A" in "Wireless Web Design and Development". I actually did more than the class required for the final project: I went ahead and wrote the server-side logic for the application in PHP because I didn't think it was at all useful as just a set of static WML pages. Overall, the course was fairly educational, although the school should fix the problems in the courseroom and the course material.
