Went out to find Fireman's Cache this afternoon. It's in the memorial park in Park Ridge, so I figured I would get the cache before running some errands in town. Last night's snowstorm dumped a bit of snow on the ground, so I thought I would have to do some digging in the snow to find the cache. To my surprise, that was not the case. The cache hider placed the cache in the only spot in the whole park that didn't have snow! That was amazing! How did he manage that? So that was quick and easy.
After visiting the Park Ridge post office to check my post office box (which had coupons for Subway; funny how the P.O. Box gets coupons that my home mailbox doesn't get), I went to Staples because I had to recycle a toner cartridge and I also needed a new spare toner cartridge. The first problem was the store no longer had any Staples brand remanufactured toner cartridges. What? Worse yet, when I asked if I could recycle my toner cartridge, the lady (and I use that term loosely because she was shrill and annoying) at the front counter told me that not only did they not recycle Staples brand toner cartridges, they never ever recycled those cartridges. That's a lie because she herself took my Staples brand cartridge the last time I went to that very store for a toner cartridge. So this afternoon, Staples went from being "That was easy" to "That was difficult".
After that, I checked eBay and saw that there were toner cartridges listed at around $20, which is about a quarter of the price of the HP cartridges. Unfortunately, when I did a web search on the seller's ID, I uncovered some very bad dirt about this seller. Seems that this seller sells off-brand cartridges that don't always work and could ruin the printer.
Maybe I should refill the toner myself. Just don't do it over the rug. :)
