The brook that is stony

Stoneybrook Park

Mascot gigs tend to take a lot out of me for some reason, even if I wasn't really moving around that much in costume. So last night, I got very sleepy in the middle of clipping coupons from the Sunday paper. I went off to rest my eyes for a minute and next thing I knew, it was 5am in the morning! So I finished up a few things that I needed to do and then headed out to Butler to find Fermi's Paradox and Stoneybrook Cache in Stoneybrook Park. Neither of the two geocaches was difficult, even if I went up the wrong side of the stream for one of them. After that, I went home and did two loads of laundry (one for fursuit and one for clothes) and had reheated Chinese food. (leftovers from yesterday's gig)

I've been using Endjunk.com to generate decoy email addresses to use in sweepstakes and websites where I don't trust the website operator not to sell my email address. So far, this scheme has worked pretty well and I've identified a few websites (e.g. Ameritrade) that have leaked or sold my address. Endjunk has always had a free Personal Account, but recently they introduced a for-fee Premiere Account. When they did that, they placed a limit of 100 decoy addresses on the Personal Account, so anyone who needs more than 100 decoys would be induced to upgrade to a Premiere Account. I do have more than 100 decoys and I'm satisfied with the service so far, so I would actually pay a small fee to get unlimited decoys. Unfortunately, their website doesn't yet offer a way to buy a Premiere Account!

This is rather annoying. I'm already up against the limit of the free account so I can't add more addresses to Endjunk, yet at the same time, I can't upgrade to a paid account because paid accounts aren't ready. What were they thinking? Endjunk is effectively forcing their established users to try other services. So this evening, I opened an account at Spamgourmet. Spamgourmet has some nice features. Each decoy address has a limit to the number of emails it can receive. Spamgourmet also has a feature that allows you to send email from one of your decoy addresses. It's not without its problems however. The very first service that I tried with Spamgourmet didn't work. I don't think it is Spamgourmet's fault, however. aNobii simply wasn't sending any email to Spamgourmet addresses.

On a slightly different note, I don't see a way to change my email address in tumblr after signing up. Then again, it doesn't matter. After Livejournal, Vox, and Twitter, I don't think I need another mini-blog. I'll go nuts updating them all!
