After the flood

War memorial

There were a few road closures in my area last night. However, when I went out this afternoon to pay the cable internet bill and get lunch, things were pretty much back to normal. (except for the river, which was still at a very high level) It was still raining though, and it continued raining lightly throughout the day.

In the evening, the rain stopped. So I went and did four new geocaches: Ridgewood Photocache, Solo G¢ Drop, Let Go of My Cache!, and Opt Out. All were dash and grabs, so it took less than an hour, including driving to each location, to do them all. One of the caches was made of Lego bricks, which I thought was a pretty novel idea.

In picking up those geocaches, I noticed that nearly all the stores in Paramus were closed. It was only later when I found out that this was by order of the Paramus Office of Emergency Management because of a broken wastewater pump. There were exceptions though. I noticed that some fast food drive-thrus were still open. Seeing as how I couldn't do much more in Paramus, I got some Asian pears (from the Chinese supermarket, which is in River Edge and was therefore unaffected) and then I went back to Ramsey for dinner.
