Fairly decent weather this evening, so I headed out to the hills and carriage roads of Tarrytown for Boulder City Cache. I probably should've picked another way to get there as I-287 at the Parkway/I-287 intersection was all choked up with traffic. It happens every Friday evening during the Summer when people rush out to get away for the weekend. Needless to say, I arrived at the parking area a bit late, after 7pm.
Straight-line distance from the trailhead to the geocache was about 0.53 of a mile, but I suspect the actual walking distance was a good deal further because the carriage roads are not straight and do not go directly to that spot. I made several turns along the way and even took a secondary trail for a short stretch. Fortunately, the geocache was easy and I found it right away when I got there.
Despite the lateness and the walking distance, I still made it out before dusk. So I had time to look at the cows. Part of the trail goes down the middle of a pasture.
After that, I went to Palisades Center, having no better idea for dinner. By this time, the people at the "cajun" stand in the food court knew exactly what I was going to order.
