Isolated Friday

Forest City Park

I should have taken today off from work too.

Visited the Lockerbie geocache in the evening. It's in a residential area in Ramsey, just a few miles from home. As the name of the geocache suggests, there is a plaque in the park on the Lockerbie Pan Am Flight 103 bombing.

One thing I learnt from Thursday morning at 3am is there should be a pair of pliers in the car. My fingers are just too big to pull out a blown fuse from the bank of fuses in the compartment below the steering wheel. So I went to Home Depot in Mahwah to get a pair. Man, they have dozens of varieties of pliers! I got their smallest pair, which is the correct size for this job. So now, the old pair of pliers can be returned to my bedside, where I use them for adjusting the alarm clock. (The knobs are really hard to turn. My life is plagued by substandard devices. :) )

Also ordered a new cigarette lighter phone charger from an Amazon vendor. I'm still amazed that all the accessories for this phone are around $3 a piece. Something else I noticed is the phone will recharge on USB power, so in a pinch, I could also recharge it by plugging it into my notebook computer with a mini-USB cable.

From fridayfiver:

1. Have any road trips planned?
Pittsburgh. 90% of you already know what this is about.

2. What is out of your reach?
Geocaches placed on trees that don't have low horizontal branches for stepping up on.

3. Are you more likely to watch a sunset or the sun rise?
Sunset, although on Thursday, I was up before sunrise.

4. What night will you never forget?
The night I arrived in New York City back in 1991. It was late. I had a bagel from a 24-hour store.

5. What's the last thing that made you scream?
A geocache I found that was held together by chewing gum. It was a few weeks ago in Long Island City.

From fridayfiver:

1. When do you doubt yourself?
All the time! It is the reason for all my risk-aversion tendencies.

2. Who do you owe an apology?
To Friday Five for answers like this.

3. When is the last time you felt embarrassed?
I don't remember.

4. What do you ignore?
xxfridayfive

5. Do you love yourself?
None of your business. :)

I don't download music.

4. How many different ways of playing music do you own (such as radio, stereo system, computer, Walkman/Discman, mp3 player, mp3-ready phone, etc.)?
Several radios, desktop computer, notebook computer, MP3 player. (the prize that I won from a pack of batteries) I think the phone can play music too but I don't use it for that.

5. Do you still have and/or play a favorite vinyl album, cassette tape, or 8-track tape?
No, but I think my parents still have some of those.

From manonica:

1. Do you think that people are inherently good or evil?
I think most people are good but it is the evil ones who get most of the attention.

2. Is having a child important to make your life complete?
No.

3. Is it true that first love never dies?
No, otherwise everyone would be set for life.

4. After forgiving, can you really forget?
First, I would have to forgive. I'm still not going to the Montvale Taco Bell!

5. In the long run, do you believe that married couples are happier than single people?
On average, probably. Some fare better than others.
