Nothing major today. I just went to the Purple Haze in Ridgewood geocache, which was halfway between a bike path and a residential dead-end street in Ridgewood. The only wrinkle was I had to do the geocache in the afternoon because rain was in the forecast for the evening.
Still working through the list of things that happened while I was away. One thing I noticed was that the Wells-Fargo-to-E*Trade account transfer had completed. It was actually posted at the end of June but I didn't get a notification. It's just as well. I would've been too busy to do anything with that info at the time anyway. So the plan now is to transfer the cash portion to HSBCDirect for a higher yield. (The equity portion from that transfer will remain at E*Trade.) An interesting side effect from merging the accounts is I'm now eligible for lower commissions at E*Trade. However, I won't be using that very much because Ameritrade Izone is still cheaper.
The final parting blow from Wells Fargo Brokerage: a $50 termination fee. I didn't know where that came from so I rechecked their online help pages, and there it was, buried in the middle of the fee schedule. It will only take about a week before the difference in yields makes up for that fee, so I'm not too concerned. But it's annoying, nevertheless.
