Geo-Breakfast and then Dutchess County

Started the day by going to Stateline Diner in Mahwah for the NJ/NY Cachers' Breakfast geocaching event. It was a small event with a few local geocachers and a few not-so-local geocachers. It was followed by a hike in Ramapo Reservation but I didn't join the group for that part. Instead, I went off on my own to Dutchess County.

First, I did a geocache in Newburgh along the way. Then I got 3 geocaches at Denning's Point in Beacon. That was a 2.5-mile loop hike but worth doing even if the fall foliage wasn't all there yet. Originally, I'd planned to go straight up US-9 towards Poughkeepsie, hitting all the geocaches along the way. However, I made a last-minute decision to go a bit to the East. So I ended up hitting all the rural areas (comparatively rural, that is. Those places were still within 10 miles of Poughkeepsie.) near the Taconic State Parkway and only got back onto US-9 for the last cache of the day, which was a travel bug hotel in Hyde Park.

Dinner was at Arby's in Wappingers Falls, where they still had the Pick 5 special.
