I got a Where's George hit in Singapore. I don't think I've had a WG hit from the old country yet but the Lion City is very close.
This evening, since I didn't have any other plans, I went out to do the FDU Metro Cam webcam cache. This is different from a regular geocache because the goal of a webcam cache is to go to the given coordinates, have your picture taken by the webcam, and upload it to geocaching.com. Well, I didn't know anyone I could call to save the image from the webcam page for me but I could think of at least two ways to do it solo.
Bringing my notebook computer would work if they have an open wi-fi network. As a fallback, I could use Opera Mini to get the webcam image on my cell phone. So this evening, I went to Fairleigh Dickinson University, which is where the webcam was. Turned on the notebook computer and found that although they had wi-fi, it was behind a passworded gateway and restricted to students and employees. So I went with Plan B. I brought up the webcam image on my cell phone and took a picture of it. This is a Rube Goldberg way of getting the webcam image, but I didn't have a choice because on this phone, I can't seem to save images in Opera Mini.
