Long Island

Another hot day with temperatures up to 90°F during the day. Went to Long Island again because there were still more geocaches that I didn't finish last weekend and some new ones too. Next weekend's plans will depend on how many new geocaches show up on Long Island this week. If there are not enough, I'll likely just do Central Jersey or thereabouts. I don't think there's anything else on my calendar but then again, I'm not signing up for any mascot gigs this time of the year because it's clearly too hot.

One thing that could get annoying in the LI geocaching scene is the "bison tube hanging in bush or pine tree" style of cache placement is starting to become popular. The foliage can hide a tiny cache very well, leading to a needle in the haystack situation. So if you aren't lucky enough to see it quickly, it could be a tough search. I got a bunch of those today but after the fourth one, I was ready to pass on the rest. Fortunately, there weren't any more like that.

Dinner was in Flushing Chinatown, which is still worth a side trip.
