Orange County

Sunset as seen from scenic view parking lot

Sunny. 40-44°F. Went to Orange County to seek out geocaches placed within the last two months and also a few older ones that I missed before. Not much traffic in this area on a weekday except for the evening rush when cars were all lined up on the country roads. But by that time, I was heading back to NJ and going against traffic so it wasn't a problem.

Did some CITO while geocaching. Actually, only the last two cache sites needed cleaning up. The last one was the worst because it was a scenic view parking lot just off I-84. People seem to like throwing their drink cups and lunch bags down the grassy slope even though there are lots of trash cans right in the parking lot. So after finding the cache shortly before sunset, I picked up litter until it got dark and cleaned up the downhill slope somewhat. Next person who wants to help can do the offramp part.

Dinner was at Dairy Queen in Montague for two reasons. Firstly, I needed to make a U-turn at exit 1 so I might as well make a dinner stop there. Secondly, I had DQ coupons for sandwiches and chicken strips that I haven't been able to use for months since all the DQs in my area are ice cream-only. So I had a chicken strips basket. While I was there, I overheard someone asking which state he was in. I guess it can be confusing when the place is less than 2 miles from the spot where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet. (The tri-state marker is under the I-84 bridge and accessible through a cemetery from the Port Jervis side.) This DQ is on the NJ side.
