I thought this was a good event. People were nice and kids were well-behaved. The younger ones really seemed to like the costumed characters. We started off with general mingling and posing for photos. Then we had a dance and Santa made his appearance. Took a break and things started winding down but I did one more walkabout in costume to wave goodbye to the attendees. After the gig, we went to Colony Diner in East Meadow. Everyone else had breakfast platters but I had to be a maverick and order a fried fish sandwich. (It's hard to tell from the picture that it's a sandwich because the fish fillet was larger than the bun.)
After that, we went our separate ways. I did some geocaching. It was cloudy and very cold. 24-35°F. The strong wind, especially at the shore, made it seem colder still. I got five quick geocaches and then turned around to head back to Flushing for dinner. Before that though, I decided to hit one last geocache in Queens near the LaGuardia Airport. By coincidence, MMacgown and Sakiman arrived at the cache site at the same time as I did. It's the second time a chance meetup has happened. With three pairs of eyes looking, we made short work of the cache.
Then I went to Flushing Chinatown. I had nasi lemak and roti canai at Curry Leaves. I'm quite impressed with their nasi lemak. I think it's actually better then the old country. They didn't skimp on the spices in the chicken curry and that made all the difference. After dinner, I took a walk up Roosevelt Avenue, as usual, to buy some snacks to take home. I think they're starting to see me as a regular customer and are handing out perks accordingly. I got a discount from the sweet bean curd vendor. I also got a free red bean soup sample from Curry Leaves.
