'splaining Geocaching to the State Police

Well, I certainly have some of life's little twists. Apparently, while I was visiting Earth Station Zebra one week and change ago, someone reported my plate numbers to the State Police. Going up that hill is suspicious? Who knew.

So this evening, I went down to the State Police Station next to the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel to talk to the State Trooper and let him know what it's all about. I also gave him some printouts from the geocaching website. The officer was very nice. He was happy with my 'splaination and thought it was a cool activity. He also seemed impressed that I've been doing this for nearly two years and pointed out that if I've been at it that long then obviously I wasn't up to no good. All in all, a pretty positive meeting. As a bonus, the more the police know about geocaching, the more legitimacy the activity gains and the less we look like terrorists.

Then there was still enough daylight left so I visited Harbor Park 'n Ride in Cheesequake State Park. A very quick and easy geocache even if the way in was sloshy with all that snow and melted snow. And it's a bonus weekday cache because I wouldn't have been in this area if I didn't have to go to the State Police Station. Nice.
