Connecticut, as promised

Found one geocache just north of White Plains in NY and then seven more in Connecticut. Quite a feat, actually, because of the traffic congestion on the Merritt Parkway and I-95, and the great travel distances involved. The furthest cache out to the east was in Hammanasset State Park and then I backtracked 50+ miles to Ridgefield for the last cache of the day.

This cache was the most interesting one of the day because it was hidden in a nicely crafted fake tree stump made of foam and a coffee can.

Still wondering what that flower is on the Merritt Parkway shield. Perhaps it is mountain laurel, the state flower. It's a scenic roadway, to be sure, as long as you don't get run off the road coming down one of those entrances. From a standstill (stop sign on the ramp), you're supposed to merge into heavy traffic with only about 50 ft (sometimes less) of acceleration lane. This is one of those things that would have worked well 20 years ago when there were fewer cars on the road. Now it's... Everyone make way! Crazy New Jersey driver coming through!

Also attended the Milford Oyster Festival unintentionally. It just happened to be on Saturday. I must have missed the oysters though as they weren't enroute to the two caches that were hidden in that town. :) On the other hand, would I have eaten the oysters?
