2003 NJ Picnic and Camp-Out at Cheesequake
Today was the 2003 NJ Picnic and Camp-Out at Cheesequake. I only went for the picnic as I'm not the camping type.
Bailey's Cache (New Jersey)
Bailey's Park, Sayreville NJ. Easy walk around the lake and then some.
Cavalry Campout (New Jersey)
Cheesequake State Park campground, although I didn't actually have to enter the park for this. Parked outside and came in through a hole in the fence. How Long Islandish.
Booth Field 2 (New Jersey)
Cheesequake State Park near the Garden State Parkway. This is the same location as the Booth Field cache that went missing some time back. This time, however, I accessed the cache from the Park and Ride lot outside the park. Much shorter but worse bushwhack.
Park Loitering (New Jersey)
Cheesequake State Park. A cache placed for the picnic. It's on the trails side of the park but still quite a bushwhack. I heard there was a roundabout way to get there with less bushwhacking but why bother?
Noisy Zoo (New Jersey)
Multistage cache in Cheesequake State Park. Placed for the picnic. Met Suncrush and Traumajunkie along the way. Met Connecticut A-Team at the end.
Whitetail Retreat (New Jersey)
Cheesequake State Park. Swampy area. Teamed up with Hartclimbs and OUTSID4EVR. Three people working on one cache makes figuring stuff out a snap. So we all found the best access and best approach to get to the cache and only got a little muddy traversing the swampy area, which had one or two inches of brackish water. Fisherman's Cove, Manasquan NJ. Went for this one after the picnic. Easy and straightforward. And I'd been here before for another cache so there wasn't an issue with finding parking and trails.
